De kroeg lag als een omhelzing om mijn Amsterdamse vrienden heen. Kees Snoek (1952) doceerde Nederlandse taal en letterkunde aan universiteiten in Michigan, Indonesië, Nieuw-Zeeland en Frankrijk (Straatsburg en Parijs). Hij publiceerde onder meer de biografie van E. du Perron (2005) en vertaalde poëzie van Sitor Situmorang en Rendra. In augustus verscheen bij Van Oorschot Wissel op de toekomst, zijn keuze uit de brieven van Sjahrir (de eerste premier van Indonesië) aan zijn Hollandse geliefde.
Jos Versteegen (1956) schreef zeven dichtbundels, waarin hij zich vooral liet inspireren door zijn familie en zijn jeugd in Limburg. Voor zijn debuutbundel werd hij genomineerd voor de C. Buddingh’-prijs. Zijn meest recente bundel is Woon ik hier, met herinneringen van oude mensen. In 2016 publiceerde hij zijn vertaling van de Duitse gedichten die Hans Keilson in 1944 in de onderduik schreef voor een geliefde: Sonnetten voor Hanna. Jos Versteegen werkt sinds begin 2017 aan de biografie van Hans Keilson.
